Welcome to the neighborhoods section of Jconnect. Here we try to give you a sense of the “flavor” of our local neighborhoods, bearing in mind that we all have different tastes. While a realtor may be able to tell you the average price of homes and their square footage, we will try to give you an idea of the surrounding Jewish community and what it has to offer.
The Greater Washington DC area is vibrant and dynamic. Our local resources serve residents of Washington, DC, Montgomery County Maryland and Northern Virginia. Feel free to browse the offerings of all our neighborhoods. As with any metropolitan area, state dividing lines may be important when it comes to schools, taxes and trash pick-up, but not when it comes to shopping, synagogues or activities.
Within each of our neighborhood groupings you will find categories of Jewish interest, including Congregations, Social Services, Schools, Kosher (restaurants, grocers, bakeries), Shopping, and the general categories, Culture/Attractions and Transportation. Use the google maps on each page to “search nearby” and zoom out to see which neighborhoods border on each other.
The intent of this section is to provide a general description of each neighborhood and provide enough detail to allow informed choices for people moving to or within the DC area. The information can also be useful to those already living in the area who want to become more familiar with what is offered and where.
