Questioning God in the Bible

The Hebrew Bible does not fully define God or all of God’s attributes. On the contrary, Biblical images of God emerge through different stories and texts that lead us to ask many questions, including:

Does God have physicality? Is God merciful or jealous (or both)?

Can God “feel” sorrow, regret, love, and anger, like human beings?

Does God have a gender? Is God sexual? Does God change over time?
