Senior Nutrition Program of the JCC of Greater Washington

Visit Website 301-348-3860

The JCC is a partner in the NORC (Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities) project. A NORC is a community where large concentrations of residents have lived for a long time and where they desire to continue to live, even as they may grow older and their needs change.

The JCC’s role, along with the ???Community Partners??? ??? The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, the Jewish Social Service Agency, the Jewish Council for the Aging and the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington ??? is to support seniors so they can remain independent in their homes.

The JCC offers lectures, book clubs, exercise programs, entertainment and excursions for NORC residents. Through these activities, the residents have made friends, discovered new interests and learned skills to help minimize isolation. The lunch program and the socialization opportunities that our programs offer help to provide a lifeline for older members of the community.

The JCC offers the following programs:

???Satellite sites in Montgomery County at the Ring House, the Gwendolyn Coffield Community Center, Congregation Har Tzeon-Agudath Achim and Young Israel Shomrai Emunah (in partnership with the synagogue sisterhood) in Silver Spring.

???A program in Prince George’s County at Temple Solel in Bowie.

???A hot kosher lunch is served at each of the satellite program locations in Montgomery and Prince George’s County and at Ring House (in partnership with the Charles E. Smith Life Communities).
