The Jewish Federation of Grand Rapids was organized in 1947 to respond to the emerging needs of the newly founded State of Israel. From these roots, the Federation has grown leaps and bounds through the help and involvement of the Jewish community of Grand Rapids. Its purposes have branched out into the areas of social services, senior assistance, immigrant assistance, singles involvement, youth and family activities, and summer camp for younger children.

The Jewish Federation of Grand Rapids prides itself on its self-supporting status. The Federation depends on contributions made by the Jewish community. With three synagogues locally, there is a great need for the community to have a commonality. This is what the Federation strives to accomplish through abounding service-oriented and philanthropic services.

The Jewish Federation of Grand Rapids offers several volunteer opportunities for Jewish community members. Focusing on an age group of 22 ??? 40 year old Jewish adults, the Federation will attempt to recruit young successors for key leadership roles.
