UCSJ | Union of Councils for Jews in the Former Soviet Union

UCSJ works to defend human rights and the rule of law in countries of the former Soviet Union (FSU).

Since 1970, UCSJ has been the voice of emigration, Jewish survival, and human rights in countries including Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus and Kazakhstan, among others. We recognized then, as we do now, that anti-Semitism, religious discrimination and xenophobia are interconnected with human rights abuses and the absence of the rule of law. We have helped to form human rights organizations in various areas of the former Soviet Union, and consider ourselves the unofficial representative of over 55 NGOs in the region.
