Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism-Washington Office

The Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism (RAC) has been the hub of Jewish social justice and legislative activity in the nation’s capital for over 40 years. It has educated and mobilized the American Jewish community on legislative and social concerns as an advocate in the Congress of the United States on issues ranging from Israel and Soviet Jewry to economic justice and civil rights, to international peace and religious liberty.

The RAC is the Washington office of the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) and the Central Conference of American Rabbis (CCAR), representing 1.3 million Reform Jews and 2,000 Reform rabbis in 900 congregations throughout North America.

The Religious Action Center is under the auspices of the Commission on Social Action of Reform Judaism, a joint instrumentality of the Central Conference of American Rabbis and the Union for Reform Judaism with its affiliates: American Conference of Cantors, Association of Reform Zionists of America, National Association of Temple Administrators, National Association of Temple Educators, National Federation of Temple Brotherhoods, National Federation of Temple Sisterhoods, North American Federation of Temple Youth.

Contributions to the RAC’s annual campaign support publications, programs, and conferences that are a cornerstone of social justice activity in synagogue social action committees and schools across America. These resources provide invaluable training for rabbis, lay leaders, and thousands of students each year. The Tzedek Society is a special group of friends of the RAC who make a lasting and significant contribution to the vital work of the RAC with a pledge of $1,800 or more payable over two years. Supporters who already belong to the Tzedek Society can become members of the Sustainer’s Circle by making an annual contribution of $250-$999. Supporters can become members of the Sustainer’s Honor Circle by making an annual contribution of $1,000-$9,999. Supporters can become members of the Tzedek Society Honor Circle by making a pledge of an additional $10,000 or more. Contributions to the Religious Action Center are tax deductible as charitable contributions.
