Middle East Institute

Since 1946 the Middle East Institute has been an important conduit of information between Middle Eastern nations and American Policy makers and organizations. The Institute works to increase knowledge of the Middle East among our own citizens and to promote understanding between the peoples of the Middle East and America. MEI plays a vital and unique role on Middle Eastern issues by carrying their work beyond the beltway and by working actively with organizations in the region itself. The Public Policy Center and Department of Programs present to Washington and beyond, on line, programs with top experts and officials from the US and foreign governments. And, in cooperation with the Smithsonian Institution, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and Middle East Embassies in Washington MRI is developing a new cultural program. The George Camp Kaiser Library, has the best English language collection on the Middle East outside of the Library of Congress. Publishes quarterly one of the most prestigious Journals on the Middle East, The Middle East Journal, and offers language courses in Arabic, Hebrew, Farsi and Turkish and seminars highlighting the history, literature and culture of the Middle East.

Careers
Each year, the Middle East Institute selects students from colleges and universities across the country and from the Middle East to participate in its internship program. This program is a critical tool for developing a new generation of policy leaders committed to a rigorous, balanced, and informed view of the Middle East.
