MentorPrize

MentorPrize aims to mitigate the chronic shortage of mentors in the D.C. area so that children and young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds get the emotional, academic and/or professional support everyone deserves. We recruit mentors and place them with local mentoring programs that serve a wide range of constituents — from homeless kids to teenage parents to first generation college students. Our recruitment efforts involve collaborating with corporations, organizations and other entities (Champions) to promote mentoring to their constituents and the community. Once a potential mentor is identified, we work one-on-one to help that individual find a mentoring program that suits his or her interests, location preferences and time constraints.
