American Friends of Neve Hanna

Neve Hanna is a children’s home located in Kiryat Gat. The children who reside in Neve Hanna have been removed from their homes and now live in family-like units grouped according to age. There are four family-like units for children between 6 and 18 years of age. The children’s home also offers three afternoon daycare programs designed for children who return to their homes in the evening. One of these programs is a joint Jewish-Bedouin program.
Neve Hanna’s highly devoted staff plans individual as well as group programs and therapies, with the goal of rehabilitating severely traumatized children, empowering them and promoting their educational and social development while imparting to them the tools to build successful, independent, self-sufficient future lives. The in-house bakery, for example, teaches children the values of work and imparts to them useful life skills such as ethics and business management.
Above all, Neve Hanna is a warm, loving home environment for the children, which offers support, assistance, guidance and care. In Neve Hanna, children grow up to become self confident and independent adolescents and young adults. And along the way, Neve Hanna staff is there to offer a helping hand and gently guide them through hard times.

American Friends of Neve Hanna has a Board of Directors from all over the U.S.A. Newsletters are sent regularly to inform them of what is happening at Neve Hanna. We support the various social, psychological, and religious aspects that have to do with the education and everyday life of the children at Neve Hanna. We have 4 campaigns a year in which funds are raised to support a traditional Jewish education associated with Masorti Judaism, holiday and Shabbat celebrations and Bar/Bat Mitzvah training and simcha. American Friends also supports a number of programs including a remedial reading program, animal therapy, individual psychological help, scholarships for post IDF students and R&R for those in the IDF. American Friends of Neve Hanna funds also go for renovations to our facility in Rosh Pina, our foster family units, and for building the new social hall at Kiryat Gat. Our goal is to help our children at Neve Hanna lead happy lives and become productive citizens of Israel.
