The Bender JCC is creating this new staff position to strengthen financial accountability across the institution.

 Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Finance Team ensuring timely and accurate reporting, including the month-end close and the preparation of monthly reports to budget managers throughout the organization.

 Manage the general accounting and reporting systems to ensure the Center’s assets are safeguarded; including new account codes, distribution codes and account code combinations.

 Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements to budget managers, participate in financial review meetings with department and program managers, prepare explanation of budget variances for management.

 Manage the annual budgeting process, partnering with program, administrative staff, and the CFAO using the Microix budgeting software.

 Ensure the accurate recording of payroll in Paycom, our payroll system, and the general ledger and serve as backup to the payroll accountant.

 Oversee the accounts payable staff and process, review and post AP batches.

 Oversee the reconciliation of all General Ledger accounts.

 Review journal entries to record activity to the general ledger for completeness and accuracy and post the journal entries prepared by the senior accountant.

 Oversee movement of funds between operating, restricted and endowment accounts.

 Ensure accurate and timely reconciliation of all bank accounts.

 Assist Senior Adult Services Director with monthly reimbursable grant invoices.

 Prepare financial summaries for the Finance Committee and the Board of Directors.

 Monitor daily, weekly and monthly operating cash flow and inform CFAO of cash status.

 Maintain fixed asset and depreciation expense records.

 Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for all annual audits including the 403b audit and the organizational audit.

 Prepare the yearly audited financial statements, footnotes and expanded statements for the Bender JCC, as well as make any adjustments the auditors suggest.

 Partner with CFAO to monitor current department systems and procedures and recommend revisions as required.

 Assist with financial reports to development for grant applications and insurance renewals.

 Make coding decision for all departments and recommend revisions as required.

 Manage annual state registrations, as needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

 Effective oral and written communication skills

 Experience with Fund Accounting and managing endowment funds following the Uniform Prudent
Management of Institutional Funds Act.

 Knowledge of financial management and accounting policies, procedures and standards, including working knowledge of and ability to abide by GAAP, Fair Labor Standard Act as it applies to payroll and
IRS regulations, federal and state financial regulations.

 Keeps abreast of current trends, practices, and developments in the accounting profession. Makes recommendations for implementation.

 Ability to develop internal and external relationships, maintain confidentiality, and provide excellent internal and external customer service.

 Excellent problem-solving skills; demonstrated collaboration and follow through skills

 Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.

 Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes.

 Ability to prioritize tasks, balance multiple assignments and meet deadlines.

 Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changes and shifting priorities.

 Supervisory experience and ability to manage others preferred.

 Experience with computerized financial systems and membership databases required; prior experience with Abila’s MIP and Salesforce is a plus.

 Accuracy and attention to detail a must.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

 Ability to work additional hours as needed to complete job responsibilities.

 Expected to work each day that the auditors are in-house.

 Work several Bender JCC community wide weekend events as they return in person.

Experience, Educational Degree(s), Professional Degree(s), or Certificate(s) Required:

 Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in accounting or other financial environment with working knowledge of non-profit accounting.

 Minimum BS Degree in accounting or other related field.

 CPA preferred.

Other Requirements:

 Knowledge of, and respect for, the mission of the Bender JCC.

 Knowledge of the rules and regulations of the Bender JCC, including its Personnel Handbook, and to abide by them.

 Knowledge of the Jewish community a plus.

 Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed, required, or assigned.

Salary and Benefits
