Communications Manager, Part-Time

Congregation Etz Hayim in Arlington, VA, is looking for a social-media savvy individual to develop and implement a communications plan for the Congregation in order to promote our events, activities and schools.

This person will also be responsible for developing and maintaining the Congregation’s social media presence, maintaining consistency and continuity across mediums for our branding and imaging, and will serve as the primary point of contact for inquiries.

Responsibilities for Communications Manager

• Create and maintain a communications plan and calendar for the Congregation, Religious School and Preschool;
• Develop and implement marketing and communications campaigns and strategies to help further organizational goals, and monitor their success;
• Create weekly e-mails, monthly newsletter, flyers and promotional videos;
• Develop and manage the Congregation’s social media presence;
• Update and maintain the Congregation’s website;
• Staff the Communications committee;
• Maintain the member database, as well as email and mail distributions lists;
• Assist congregants with questions regarding events, membership and general information.

Desired Background

• Proven success in designing and executing marketing and communications strategies for a non-profit organization;
• Familiarity with synagogue life and structure;
• Knowledge of and passion for Jewish life;
• Ability to communicate patiently and sensitively with members;
• Ability to work cooperatively with office staff and members;
• Demonstrated success with Constant Contact, Google Suite, WordPress Website management, Facebook, video editing, and graphic design; experience with ShulCloud preferred;
• Top-notch oral and written communication skills;
• Excellent organizational and project management skills; ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines;
• Able to work as part of a team as well as independently.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary range: $20,000-$25,000/year

Hours: 20 hours/week
