Mental Health

Financial, Food, & Legal Assistance

  • Adel Fund provides support for short-term basic needs such as mortgage and rent payments, and medical support. 
  • Bikur Cholim of Greater Washington provides assistance to people facing medical challenges and to the families who care for them.
  • Hebrew Free Loan of Greater Washington: Offers emergency loans
  • Jewish Social Service Agency (JSSA) provides a screening line for all services related to mental health, special needs, and senior care. Maryland: 301-816-2633 and Virginia: 703-896-7918.
  • Montgomery County Kosher Meals free, daily kosher lunches for kids. All households in Montgomery County with children age 18 and under are eligible to participate in this USDA program.  
  • Rabbi Emergency Fund offers funding for rabbis to support members of the community who are in need during times of crisis. Please contact your local congregation.
  • Tzedek DC helps people with legal problems arising from debt. In addition, Tzedek DC is also available to help with fraud, scams, and other consumer concerns related to the Coronavirus outbreak, including fake virus tests, predatory loans above the legal interest rate cap of 24%, and illegal price gouging.
  • Yad Yehuda offers support for programs like Tomchei Shabbos and the Capital Kosher Pantry, and provides emergency cash and food assistance to individuals.
