Instructor: Rita Way, retired nurse
Part 1 of this course will focus on prehistoric medicine through the rise of modern medicine. We will travel through time and history to learn how medicine has evolved from the days of witchcraft and medicine men to the era of modern medicine. We will highlight some of the themes and key milestones in the story of medicine and discuss the development of ideas about the causes of disease from Greco-Roman humoral theory up to the discoveries of germs and genes in the modern era. Rita will touch upon Jewish medicine in the context of its history.
Part II will be offered in the spring — stay tuned!
