Times are tough, and our community needs our support. Because of COVID-19, some of our friends, families, and neighbors are dying, sick, and burdened by caring for the sick. Because of the economic conditions, people have lost their jobs and food insecurity, especially among families with young children, has spiked to a level unprecedented in modernity.
Casa Chirilagua is a local community nonprofit that serves the Central American Latinx community in City of Alexandria zip code 22305 – a hot spot for COVID-19. Because of the conditions, demand for Casa Chirilagua’s services has become enormous. As neighbors guided by chesed, a resilient love that insists that we are all in this together, we have a responsibility to step up and help others in need. To honor all fathers this Father’s Day, Beth El will hold a safe, socially- and physically-distant necessities drive in our parking lot for Casa Chirilagua. We will collect the following items:
