Presented by Matthew Silverman
Executive Director, Haberman Institute for Jewish Studies
From exploring historical debates to dissecting contemporary dilemmas, this session will open you to see adult Jewish education as more than just a “Hebrew School” or scholarly pursuit—it’s a cornerstone for building resilience, fostering unity, and cultivating a Jewish community and world enriched by diversity and dialogue.
Join the executive director of the Haberman Institute for Jewish Studies for an informal and conversational session exploring a few texts from the Christian New Testament, the Talmud, and the Dead Sea Scrolls and their relevant historical context. We will have the opportunity to discuss the texts and put them into conversation with each other while exploring their relevance to our world today. We will ask such questions as, how do Jesus’ teachings compare to Hillel, Shammai, and the authors of the Dead Sea Scrolls?
To conclude this session, we will explore what makes Jewish learning unique and essential for individuals seeking to enrich their lives and the lives of their families and community.
