Join us to learn from Elaine Pagels, historian of religion at Princeton University and MacArthur “Genius Award” recipient. Professor Pagels is guest scholar for our annual Adrienne Kohn Spiritual Growth Day of Learning, created by Garry Grossman in loving memory of his wife and our member Adrienne Kohn.
Dr. Pagels’ opening talk will focus on grief and faith, based on her book, “Why Religion? A Personal Story.” This will be followed by: An Exploration of The Gospel According To Thomas, a text “from before the split” between rabbinic Judaism and early Christianity, which provides a fascinating portrait of the theological questions of that inflection moment in western religious history.
