Join us for a book talk in conversation with the author of HarperCollins new release LOT SIX, David Adjmi. CHICAGO TRIBUNE BEST BOOKS PUBLISHED IN SUMMER 2020. Listed as one of the Top Ten in Culture for 2011 by the New Yorker magazine, Adjmi tells his entertaining story as a gay New York playwright who grew up in the conservative Syrian Jewish community in Brooklyn. He had set out to compose essays about his cultural influences, but started sliding toward more personal territory — a move his publisher encouraged.

Identity, including Jewish and Sephardic identity, is complex, as each of us is composed of a multiplicity of things, and the sum of our many things constitute a multitude. In his debut memoir, Adjmi explores how human beings create themselves and provides insight into how artists make their lives into art.
