For a small country 6,000 miles away with fewer than ten million residents, Israel features prominently as a topic in the American Jewish community, American news media and on the world stage.  In this 3-week mini-course, we will learn about various aspects of Israeli society from three of its outstanding authors of modern fiction: Amoz Oz, Meir Shalev and Etgar Keret.  Early registration is encouraged, as there will be a packet of stories to read prior to the first class.  All texts will be in English.
