A Taste of Tu B’ Shevat Cooking Demo
Monday, February 6, noon-1pm
Facilitated by Dean Bagdadi, Pozez JCC Senior Shaliach
What is Tu B ’Shevat? It is a minor Jewish holiday celebrated in Israel to pay tribute to the agricultural cycle and the first signs of spring. In honor of this special holiday, we will learn about why and how it is celebrated in the US, as well as a bit about Moroccan Jewish cuisine. The J will host a cooking demonstration (just like on television cooking shows – think Emeril!) of a Moroccan dish called Tanzia. Watch it being prepared and taste the finished product! Enjoy other tastes of Tu B’ Shevat by sampling some common fruits (figs, dates, olives, and pomegranates) traditionally eaten on this holiday. Leave with a copy of the recipe to make at home and fun facts about what is often called the new year or birthday of the trees!
