Better Family.org is a project of the Jewish Family Center of Northern Montgomery County. Dedicated to the promotion of Jewish values as a means to strengthening the families in Northern Montgomery County, Maryland. Strive to be a resource in dealing with everyday life issues by teaching effective methods that facilitate the raising of children and that promote positive relationships in families and between spouses. Not affiliated with any denomination of Judaism and open to all Jews.

JEWEL believes families should be free to join the synagogue of their choice without having that decision dictate their children’s education. That is why the JEWEL School System is NOT affiliated with any Synagogue. No membership or building-fund dues, and there will never be any additional fees except for tuition or field trips. JEWEL provides a Bar/Bat Mitzvah program and a meaningful service for families who do not have an affiliation with another Synagogue.
Programs for children in grades K through 7 that are relevant, fun, and promote a better connection to Jewish life through education. Use teaching methods that are active and lessons that are appropriate for children today.
The areas of Jewish Studies that are covered are Holidays and festivals, Jewish values and ethics, Bible and Torah, Customs and ceremonies and Israel and Jewish history. The goal of the Hebrew curriculum is that the children learn to read and understand enough Hebrew to allow them to fully participate and feel comfortable in services in synagogue and also prepare for their Bar/Bat mitzvah tutor.
