Bender JCC of Greater Washington - Program Coordinator; Senior Programs and Coming of Age
Program Coordinator; Senior Programs and Coming of Age
Position Summary: The Program Coordinator, Senior Programs and Coming of Age (CoA) will help develop and execute trips, lectures, classes and programs for seniors, manage outreach with current and future partners and work with other JCC programmers. They must have the drive and passion to connect and engage with the senior population. This position will work closely with the Director of CoA and Director of Adult Programming.

Essential Functions:
  • Assist CoA director in procuring and booking excursion venues including but not limited to restaurants, theaters, and museums as well as booking performers, speakers and films
  • Manage CoA transportation for events and trips
  • Assist in organizing the Annual CoA Health and Wellness Expo which includes but is not limited to: purchasing and organizing supplies, finding exhibitors and workshop presenters, preparing and organizing evaluations, signage and layout, payments to performers and speakers
  • Work in partnership with marketing to create fliers and advertising for events
  • Create new CoA partnership sites and maintain relationships with current sites and partners
  • Handle registrations, rosters, payments, refunds, and mailing lists for CoA and Senior Satellite classes as well as telephone, voicemail, and email inquiries and follow-up communication
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed, required, or assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Must be highly organized, flexible, and a self-starter
  • Must be a skilled multi-tasker with the ability to manage several diverse programs simultaneously
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with others both verbally and in writing
  • Must have a passion for the Jewish Community and a strong commitment to helping others
  • Knowledge of, and respect for, the mission of the Bender JCC of Greater Washington
  • Knowledge of and respect for the rules and regulations of the Bender JCC, including the Employee Handbook

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Must be physically present in the building during core business hours on a regular basis.
  • Must be available to attend day and some evening/weekend CoA events as well as two overnight trips per year.
  • Must maintain a valid drivers license and access to a vehicle to travel locally to programs, meetings and events
  • Must be able to lift boxes or supplies up to 20 lbs

Education and Experience

  • Previous experience working with the senior adult population preferred
  • Previous experience developing and executing events and/or presenting programs required
