Edlavitch DC JCC - JFamily Ambassador
The Edlavitch DCJCC is actively seeking a qualified, outgoing, creative, organized individual who is an excellent communicator and excels at relationship building to work part-time as a Jfamily Ambassador serving the following areas: Capitol Hill/Southeast/Waterfront, Dupont/Adams Morgan/Columbia Heights, Brookland/Petworth, Connecticut Ave Corridor, Tenleytown/Georgetown/Palisades. As a Jfamily Ambassador, you will help new parents meet and connect with other Jewish families in Washington D.C. You will build authentic relationships, create new, barrier-free Jewish experiences, expand communities, and impart relevant Jewish content to families with Jewish children under the age of 3 through phone conversations, coffee meetings, and small-scale outreach and engagement gatherings.

We are looking for someone who is:
  • Excited to meet and welcome new parents, and get to know them informally over coffee 
  • Passionate about Jewish life and interested in facilitating and participating in new opportunities for peers to meet each other 
  • Self-motivated, curious and open to new ideas 
  • Knowledgeable about local offerings for new parents 0-36 months (or is willing to learn) both within and outside of the Jewish community 
  • Outgoing, motivated, highly networked parents with strong communication skills
  • Self-driven and able to work independently as well as part of a team
Ambassadors will identify, connect and build micro-communities with the assistance of JCC staff by: 
  • Participating in monthly training/conference calls to learn and share best practices for engagement, as well as skill building to hold meaningful one-on-one conversations to facilitate connections and to develop successful social media strategies for connecting with families 
  • Identifying new Jewish moms, dads, and families in the community and aspiring to informally meet with an average of two new parents weekly to find out interests, share information on available programs and resources, and deliver Jfamily bag ‘swag’ to new families 
  • Contribute social media content about and participate in online conversations with topics of interest to new parents 
  • Complete a brief, online weekly survey to provide a ‘snapshot’ of how local families are engaging in Jewish community and provide insight for future programming based on Ambassador interactions and experiences 
  • Ongoing monitoring of social media sites to learn what is already being offered for new parents with young children locally and share these observations on monthly conference calls and/or at training sessions
  • Contact new families, with children under the age of 3; explain program goals; and identify their interests and needs
  • Plan, organize and facilitate regular gatherings in your assigned neighborhood
  • Deepen connections through follow-up with photos, contact information, and invitations to future gatherings
  • Maintain and track accurate database of communications with parents
  • Serve as concierge to cross-promote all local Jewish community programs
Ambassadors have the exciting opportunity to: 
  • Have a hands-on role in re-imagining their local Jewish community to meet the needs of new parents with young children 
  • Grow your personal, professional and social network 
  • Develop new skills that will be valuable for future employment opportunities and/or leadership roles in other organizations 
  • Learn and work with community partners, as well as the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington
