Jewish Council for the Aging - Activity Manager at Misler Adult Day Center

General Function: The Activity Manager is responsible for the operation of the activity program at The Albert & Helen Misler Adult Day Center. Responsibilities include but, are not limited to, planning, coordinating, and implementing activities and daily programming for participants. The manager supervises the activity program staff (Activity Leaders.) The Activity Manager and the Activity Leaders work together as a cohesive team. The Manager facilitates the transition of new participants into the milieu of the Center. 

Hours: Full time, generally M-F 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, though some evening and weekend hours may be required. 


  • Planning, coordinating and implementing all activity programming at the Center in collaboration with the Activity Leaders and input from the participants 
  • Prepares monthly calendar of activities and weekly aide and activity leader assignment charts 
  • Works with community organizations, agencies, performers and other contractors to schedule enhanced activities monthly 
  • Submits invoices from contractors to accounting department in a timely manner 
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies’ requirements for activity functions at the Center 
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to best meet needs of participants and families/friends 
  • Contributes to Care Plan meetings; maintains and completes all documentation about participants engagement in activities for assigned participants 
  • Supervises Activity Leaders 
  • Assist in the kitchen area, setting up for meals, serving meals and cleaning up after meals 
  • Ability to move, lift, push, pull, manipulate up to 50 lbs. when/if needed 
  • Ability to stand, move, sit, walk, supervise, assist in the movement of participants with cognitive decline and/or who are using wheelchairs and/or walkers (all or most of the time) 
  • Provides for supervision of participants in the transition of programs and at time of entry and departure 
  • Other duties as assigned

Privacy Requirements:

  • As a member of the team, the Activity Manager has access to all information in the medical record and participates in all staff/team meetings when protected health information is discussed to provide the best interdisciplinary care and problem solving on behalf of Albert & Helen Misler Adult Day Center participants. 
  • The Activites Manager carries out all duties and responsibilities in a manner that protects the health information of JCA clients and that conforms to all state, county and federal rules, regulations or requirements of law related to client health information or privacy rights. This obligation will survive the termination of employment or the end of association with JCA regardless of the reason for such termination. (For current staff, violations of the privacy policies and procedures may result in sanctions up to and including termination.) 

Experience, Skills and Education: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a consistent degree, and/or an Associate of Arts Degree with four or more years of experience as activity leader with the older adult population 
  • Supervisory experience 
  • Outstanding oral and written skills
