JFNA - Assistant Project Manager, Center for Advancing Holocaust Survivor Care

Background:  

The Jewish Federations of North America (“JFNA”) represents 147 Jewish Federations and over 300 Network communities, which raise and distribute more than $3 billion annually for social welfare, social services and educational needs. About the Position:  

The Assistant Project Manager works to design and implement the daily operations of the Center for Advancing Holocaust Survivor Care (“Center”). The Center is advancing person-centered trauma-informed (PCTI) supportive services for Holocaust survivors by distributing sub-grants to local agencies, and by providing technical assistance and capacity building support to sub-grantees and the Aging Services Network at large. The Center is in the third year of funding of a Congressional appropriation through a grant from the U.S. Administration for Community Living that is renewable annually for up to five years. JFNA’s maintenance of this position is contingent upon subsequent Congressional appropriations and continued receipt of the grant.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Provide guidance to sub-grantees with planning, implementation, evaluation, and dissemination of JFNA-funded projects;
  • Monitor the spending reports of each sub-grantee, develop problem-solving strategy and engage with any problematic sub-grantees to address any concerns that emerge with their spenddown rates or failure to meet matching requirements, and initiate and design processes to ensure proper JFNA oversight; 
  • Coordinate technical assistance programming by leading conference calls, managing webinars, and ensuring that our in-person trainings are recorded; 
  • Design and implement systems and procedures (including customizing project management software) to optimize Center efficiency and effectiveness; 
  • Implement the sub-grantee allocations and review committee processes, by envisioning review committee procedures, creating templates when necessary, and organizing spreadsheets to analyze review committee scoring data; 
  • Envision project time lengths and create annual calendar to ensure that that the Center meets all externally and internally imposed timelines established by the grant; 
  • Update and manage content for the Center website by creating and gathering materials and other resources to publish; 
  • Envision strategy for framing, marketing, and disseminating Center success stories;
  • Draft detailed semi-annual reports for the federal government; and
  • Complete other related assignments as directed.

 

Qualifications:  

  • Three to five years of experience in the grant-making, nonprofit or government sector, preferably in the delivery of health and human services or in the provision of technical assistance to human service agencies.
  • Interest in aging issues and a commitment to helping Holocaust survivors.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.  
  • Preferred proficiency with web development software, webinar and communications software, and MS Office.
  • Fluency with reading and monitoring project budgets.  
  • Organized, professional self-starter with the ability to multi-task and work quickly as part of a team.  
  • Bachelor’s degree required. 
  • Some U.S. travel required.
