Jewish Council for the Aging - Administrative Specialist - JCA State Health Insurance Assistance
STATUS: Non-exempt; annually grants-funded position

HOURS: Part-Time, 35 hours per week

WAGE: Up to $20 per hour when expressed as an hourly wage

GENERAL FUNCTION:

Lead in designing and implementing administrative processes for JCA’s State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP), Senior Medicare Patrol Program (SMP) and other related health insurance counseling programs at JCA. Troubleshoot problems and recommend solutions for the SHIP Director. Independently, perform ongoing and varied administrative functions and professional tasks, including providing instructions and/or work to other SHIP part-time AA/Data Entry staff, for the successful implementation of the above-noted programs.
Work closely with the SHIP Director and JCA’s SHIP volunteers who provide health insurance counseling, enrollment guidance and assistance, and problem resolution pertaining to Medicare and other sources of health benefits available to adults age 65 and older as well as to adults under 65 who have long-term disabilities.
Monitor and support monthly and ongoing activities to help the SHIP Director meet performance targets and deliverables. Provide results-driven professional services to ensure that JCA’s performance meets or exceeds contract goals and outcomes.

SKILLS, ABILITIES, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.

A minimum of three years’ experience in a busy office, with at least one year’s experience in managing or coordinating others’ work. A minimum of three years’ experience working directly with volunteers.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy; skilled at working with numbers because responsibilities include accurate book keeping and record keeping for statistical information maintenance and reporting.

Proficiency in Microsoft office suite applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, and ability to learn new database and software platforms.

Demonstrated capacity to work independently and with a team to meet tight deadlines.
