JCRC's Yom Ha'Shoah v'Hagvurah Commemoration in 2017 reflects upon "Displaced Persons - Struggles to Find a Home," and includes arts and artifacts exhibits, a keynote address, music by the community choir, original readings and prayers as well as the inter-generational candle lighting and recitation of the Holocaust Mourner's Kaddish. Additional programming preceding the commemoration includes:

- an interactive commemorative program for teens
- Dor L'Dor small group discussions with Holocaust survivors for families with teens and adults of all ages
- an art and artifacts exhibit with original works from more than 20 professional artists, youth and area non-profits
- and B'nai B'rith's "Unto Every Person There Is A Name," reading of names of those who perished in the Shoah.

This community-wide event is supported by more than 50 houses of worship, non-profit and government organizations. Each year hundreds of dignitaries, elected officials, interfaith clergy, Holocaust survivors, teens and community members attend.

Visit www.jcouncil.org/YomHaShoahMD for updated information on the program and links to sign up for the candle lighting and name reading ceremonies or to volunteer or donate to support the program.
