The Northern Virginia Holocaust Observance in 2017 reflects upon "Displaced Persons - Struggles to Find a Home," and includes a keynote address, music by the community choir, original readings and prayers read by interfaith clergy and dignitaries as well as the inter-generational candle lighting and recitation of the Holocaust Mourner's Kaddish. The commemoration is held 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm. Starting at 4:30 pm is a separate program for teens, as well as an art and artifacts exhibit and B'nai B'rith's "Unto Every Person There Is A Name," reading of names of those who perished in the Shoah.

This community-wide event is supported by more than 50 houses of worship, non-profit and government organizations. Each year hundreds of dignitaries, elected officials, interfaith clergy, Holocaust survivors, teens and community members attend. Light Kosher sustenance is provided until 6:00 pm.
